They noted that advanced e-cigarette users https://www.talkbasket.net/201709-thc-vape-pen-premium-vapes-with-grass-and-cannabis-for-sale-online often modify their devices by adjusting the heating coil resistance and battery power “in an attempt to optimize their vaping experience and potentially deliver more drug in the aerosol.” The researchers found that increasing the voltage does increase the “dose per puff,” but that the increase was “not particularly significant.” One in three adolescents in the U.S. still consider electronic cigarettes to be less harmful than traditional combustible cigarettes.4 It is imperative that teens are given accurate information on e-cigarettes. Social media has been scrutinized as a prominent source of exposure to e-cigarettes and pod mod devices among vulnerable adolescents who are at risk for tobacco use (Hébert et al. — 2017), and has been found to influence perceptions of reduced harm among tobacco products (Petrescu et al., 2017).
“Characterization of new devices is critical to understand the nature of new drug paraphernalia and educate law enforcement to collect such evidence,” the researchers said. To better understand what they call the “more nefarious uses and outcomes” of e-cigarette devices (researchers from Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) have characterized how the devices continue to evolve), how the newest devices impact drug delivery, and how illicit e-cigarette pharmaceutical products are being developed and distributed. Although e-cigarettes were first developed as an alternative to traditional tobacco products — new generations of the personal vaporizers are increasingly being used to deliver drugs such as THC (the intoxicating compound in marijuana), methamphetamine, fentanyl, and synthetic cannabinoids. Biopsies from chronic vapers demonstrate structural changes in lung tissue.1 We know that nicotine addiction often originates in adolescence with studies showing that close to 90% of adult daily smokers started before the age of 18.10 Thus, e-cigarettes are effectively helping to create a new generation addicted to nicotine.
The rise of adolescents’ vaping and the renormalization of smoking. An article from the New England Journal of Medicine reported a 10% increase in adolescents using e-cigarettes between 2017 and 2018 alone — which is approximately 1.3 million teenagers.2 The United States is seeing an explosive rise of adolescents’ vaping and the renormalization of smoking , Table 1,. Specifically, vaping in adolescents poses a grave risk to patients’ health and is a topic that physicians have to confront.
Global Growth and Trends
Local vape shops, online forums, and social media platforms serve as gathering points where individuals share experiences, exchange tips, and discuss the latest trends. From selecting unique device designs to experimenting with a vast array of flavors, individuals can tailor their vaping experience to reflect their personalities and preferences. As more individuals embrace vaping as an alternative to traditional cigarettes, public perceptions of smoking have evolved. Some countries have embraced it as a harm-reduction tool, while others have restricted or banned flavored products to deter youth use. Vape culture is not confined to one country or region—it’s a global trend.
This visibility can amplify the social aspect of vaping — encouraging more individuals to participate in the community. Platforms like Instagram and TikTok have become significant in shaping vaping culture, with influencers showcasing their vaping experiences and promoting various brands. While vaping can create a sense of community, it may also lead to exclusivity among non-vapers. As a result, vaping can facilitate interactions in public spaces, enhancing social experiences.

Significant variation in approaches was observed among countries, with some adopting vaping as a tool for harm reduction while others enforced strict regulations or outright prohibitions. A pivotal role in fostering product innovation and diversity has been fulfilled by E-liquid manufacturers, who follow industry standards and regulations to guarantee safety and quality. Replaceable cartridges for E-Cigarettes were part of Gilbert’s invention, along with a proposal for various flavours—ideas that continue to be fundamental to contemporary vaping devices. Several decades prior to modern vaping, the idea of electronic cigarettes was already in existence. Initially conceived as a straightforward solution for offering a safer substitute to conventional smoking, it has transformed into a global industry worth billions, radically altering how millions ingest nicotine. Seek out forums and social media communities that emphasize safety (education), and mutual respect.
Youth Vaping Concerns
As a result, many smokers have found vaping to be an effective tool for quitting smoking altogether. Additionally — vaping offers smokers a way to gradually reduce their nicotine intake. Public health organisations in various countries have acknowledged that vaping poses fewer risks than smoking, prompting smokers to make the switch. Many smokers have turned to vaping as a way to reduce their dependence on traditional cigarettes.
It has also made its mark on mainstream culture (with vaping becoming a trend embraced by celebrities), influencers, and even fashion designers. This desire for individuality extends to the e-liquids used in vaping, with vapers experimenting with different flavors and combinations to create their own signature vape. From unique designs and colors to intricate engravings, vapers strive to make their devices stand out from the crowd.
